When buyers request a “soft fleece blanket,” they often mean one of three constructions: flannel (brushed microfiber), coral fleece, or a sherpa reverse composite. Each behaves differently in hand feel, print clarity, warmth and packing volume.

Flannel and coral fleece are usually single-layer faces with a soft nap. They are popular for promotional throws and printed retail lines because artwork stays readable and the blanket folds compactly. Typical discussion ranges often sit around 180–280 GSM for lighter programs, with higher GSM for warmer retail SKUs.

Sherpa (or sherpa-reverse) adds a plush reverse layer. It reads as a premium, colder-season product and is common in gift sets and hospitality throws. Expect higher bulk in cartons and a warmer hand feel; GSM is confirmed by the face + reverse pairing rather than a single face weight.

For OEM quotes, share the channel first (promo / retail / hotel), then preferred warmth, print vs solid color, and whether vacuum packing is required. That combination usually narrows fabric choice faster than asking for “the softest blanket.”
